Your reflection/learning's on Technopreneurship 1 (at least 2000 words) Yesterday at 10:23 am

Our Technopreneurship1 subject has given me a lot of insights on how to start making a trace of difference with my life. Of course this trace must have been very significant because this might/must be the thing that would lead in to my life’s peak. From the beginning of our class we have been tested on how to make critics in an establishment. For sure we all know that Technopreneurship gains more advantage over other typical kind of entrepreneurship. Before, the semester I wasn’t able to study in advance our subject IT Elective 1 Technopreneurship 1. All I know is it’s in the field of business with the use of technology. Well I can say before, the first thing comes in my mind when I hear the word "technopreneurship" is just a simple business that deals with selling and buying products. Only the important thing is that you have the capital and gaining income and most probably how you manage the said business.

The first lesson we tackled about is hot to connect the dots and end up with the realization that we shouldn’t or we must not just limit ourselves inside the box. We should think and initialize beyond it to be productive in some other ways. Our facilitator showed us the four phases on how we could make ourselves a better technopreneur. Our instructor stresses to us that when we are doing something for our self or for example when we are running our own business, we should not only look forward but instead look backward. By just merely looking forward, there is a greater chance that you will fail in what you are doing but when you look backward, you will know the things that made you weak and of course you can apply it when you are going forward. The most important lesson that I have learned in that activity is to “think beyond the box”. The meaning is very simple, for example in school; we should not limit our learning’s just in the four corners of our classrooms or from our teachers and professors that gave lectures to us but instead learn new things outside. We can discover many things from the environment where we are and from the people around us. According to him, following simple instruction is very important because if you are not doing it, you cannot run simple programs. I hesitated to write anything on my paper first until he gave us instruction. Some of my classmates eager to write their names and to start the activity but then they trash their paper many times and have a new because they are not following instructions. For me, I guess it’s a good way of disciplining ourselves. In order for us to run a business properly, according to our instructor, we should follow the SEED concept. At first, I was confused what the SEED concept is all about. Maybe it means you start from small things then as time goes by you should go higher depending how you perform well, just like a real seed, it starts very tiny then if taken good care it will grow as a tree and will spread its branches. But what I was thinking was somehow wrong. Way out from the real meaning of the SEED concept. SEED is an acronym for Self-Mastery, Environment Mastery, Enterprise Mastery and Development of Business Plan. In our Technopreneurship 1, we were scheduled to tackle about the first two items which are Self-Mastery and Environment Mastery.

For the concept of Self Mastery we took some tests to identify and know more facts about ourselves. These tests include personality test, intelligence quotient, adversity quotient and emotional quotient. With the help of these tests we were able to determine on what fields we excel, what fields we have are needed to improve and on what fields we have to work on. Of course each of us persons possesses different personalities. We have unique way on dealing with the situations around us. We have various ways on treating our comrades and family. We respond distinctively on things we experience and encounter. Some traits can help us to be better and some don’t. Being aware of yourself is very vital for you to become an effective technopreneur. On our journey of being a technopreneur struggles may come our way such as criticisms. Criticisms can sometimes aid us or break us. In my case as of now I am still sensitive to this issues in which I have to work on for the reason that a god technopreneur must possess a strong personality that can handle heavy problems and can easily solve problems. Last semester I also learned and realized that reaching a high IQ test result is not that important in business. Emotional aspects in particular handling risks and being able to handle disapprovals is more important. Skill is also one of the most essential parts that a technopreneur must encompass.

Since our subject entails about entrepreneurship with the use of technologies our instructor also had conducted a film viewing about two of the person who made technology a lot different today and could go farther tomorrow “The Pirates of the Silicon Valley”. We and I myself really enjoyed a lot upon watching the movie. I haven’t imagined that much how these people started making their difference. And it made me convinced myself that I could too can make something I could be proud of and that I must have start doing it today. Now I become more entwined on blogging and I think this is just a step for me to do bigger things. I am also motivated to change little by little the tardiness attitude I have that could become the greatest hindrance to what I want to achieve. I have learned something from Steve’s character that could contribute a lot in ones life, to be a great person someday especially in business world you must have an entrepreneur character. Next, leadership skills are needed. I just have to learn about how things go and do the right stuffs and taking great risks. Sounds easy right but not so because before Steve Jobs and Bill Gates got where they are now they have gone to many struggles and problems. They weren’t rich because there so freaking smart in making stuffs but they were smart in making stuffs works. Just like what my teacher told us, you would never succeed if you just think of your business and don’t make any actions to make it possible or real. I even remembered some quotations from the movie:
“You don’t just live life, you change it, you shape it, and you make your mark upon it.”
“Good artists copy, great artists steal.”
Those quotes were reflected in Steve Jobs life, he changed the way people live their lives. He’s one genius.

I’ve also learned from our first assignment which was we are going to choose a certain food chain or establishment and investigate their facilities (technological). From our observation, we should have at least three innovations that we would like to install or improve to their current system of services. As what I have observed, my classmates thought of almost the same ideas. I’ve learned that an important element of putting up a business is uniqueness. But it was ok, I think, because out from those the same ideas from my classmates, one thing was common: to eliminate the waiter/waitress. That is of course, the mission of technology: to give convenience to human beings by… eliminating man power, I suppose? But there are more applications of technology than that. I’ve also learned from this subject the importance of discipline. Every meeting we have to come in on time and if we have requirements, we have to pass it on time too, or else, we will have to perform embarrassing talents or write n thousand words to compensate our negligence. This is of course, to give justice to ourselves, I think. Because if we do not straighten up this kind of attitude, we will eventually bring this with us until we grow much older. And of course, it will bring misfortune to us.

One of the most inspiring speeches I have read is of Steve Jobs’. Last semester on Technopreneurship 1, one of the assignments given to us is to read the commencement address of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs is such an inspiration, indeed! Every word that comes out to his speech imparts bunches of learning and knowledge that marks a scar on whoever reads or hears. A lot of statement struck me. The first and perhaps the most important thing he said is “you’ve got to find what you love”. As I can remember he mentioned three stories that elucidate his hardships and path as he takes on his journey to attain triumph. These stories bring different lessons that made me realize of many things.

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.” Said by Steve Jobs and which is also true. There are things you need to learn the hard way. Life does not spoon feed you all the things you need to know, it sometimes make you fall from a high cliff and fall on your head just to make you realize that your not for that situation or position were you are right now. You may be doing it because they said so but doing it without loving what you do is a whole different story because you would never be successful if you yourself know that you never loved what you do. It’s like being in a commitment with someone you never love. A prison without any chance of being free.

Those are the things that he said. He continued to work hard on his field of expertise, and he crawled back up and became even more successful. I was inspired with this story, inspired in a way that I must learn to find what I love to do, or learn to love what I do. And I did, I failed several times but I continued and now I loving what I am doing even though I failed before. I never thought of my failures as reasons to give up, though I have seen people who have given up, maybe they have found what they really love. But I already love what I am doing, and I am going to continue walking through this path that I am taking. Though it is very far I am willing to walk until the end.
Steve Jobs third story was about death, he had cancer before and he realized many things we he thought that it was the end of his end.
“No one wants to die, even people who want to go to Heaven don't want to die to get there, and yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It's life's change agent; it clears out the old to make way for the new.”

Lastly we was said to post our own ideas of what would our business would be or given a chance what business would we want to have? Given the chance to have my own techno business I would likely to impose a business that would be on my personal interest because I know that doing the things you love and love the things you do will make a good result of whatever you are doing. It may not cause much and not earn much in the start but knowing that I love what I do would make a huge difference in everything that is upfront for me now. I may not have much of an idea for now but for now I would like to have a simple yet unique concept. But then again some may ask what does this mean? What is its difference with the simple entrepreneurship? Well, it is as simple as more than any other factor; innovation drives sustainable business growth and long term profitability. Innovation is a function of intellectual capital. Intellectual capital is the single most important asset in the knowledge economy. High-tech and entrepreneurial skills are driving our economy back to prosperity. Technopreneursip-merging technology prowess and entrepreneurial skills- is the real source of power in today’s knowledge-based economy. A technopreneur distinguishes logic from tradition, tradition from prejudice, prejudice from common sense and common sense from nonsense while integrating a variety of ideas from diverse groups and disciplines. More and more companies are now trying the techno business style it is more of more efficient and more interactive towards the user.

To sum it all up, what I have experienced in my Technopreneurship 1 subject course was really irreplaceable. It really made a big impression on me because it really turned my important views in life in a 180 degrees turn. But I guess I am just one of those privileged students who are really blessed to be the pioneering first batch to take up this course. I know that these knowledge and learnings will be of great use in my future.

All I can say is that my purpose in taking this subject is to improve and to gazed my life into the real world that awaits me in there. What I'm experiencing right now are not in half of the real problems that other is facing with.
