Exercise 3

During our second meeting with sir Randy Gamboa had a video clip presentation entitled "The Art of the Start" by Mr. Guy Kawasaki. He made his speech in Stanford University. It was a talked about how to start a business. H
Who is Guy Kawasaki?
Guy Kawasaki (Born August 30, 1954) is a Silicon Valley venture capitalist. He was one of the Apple employees originally responsible for marketing the Macintosh in 1984. He is currently a Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures, and has been involved in the rumor reporting site, Truemors, and an RSS aggregator, Alltop. He is also a well-known blogger.

After we have watched this video clip of Guy Kawasaki from Stanford University discussing about technopreneurship. It is not a usual talk about being a technopreneur; it is some like on to the other concern of it. It dealt on to being a good businessman not just for oneself but also for the community. Mr. Kawasaki pointed that making money for the welfare of oneself is not a good quality of being a technopreneur, one must also think of the community where he belong, think of the things that needs to be balanced in his surroundings.

Make meaning, it sounded a little bit cheesy but it makes sense. Money alone will not be able to motivate me to give my very best, but if I will set a goal that is really important not just for me but also for others, then it would probably help me strive more because it will be for the better. Making meaning is doing something with a non material value; it’s like caring for someone, that care is very valuable but could not be counted or bought. So when starting a business we should think of creating something that would serve as solutions to a single or several problems. Our need to make something helpful will be our motivation to improve and develop what we are doing into something more useful and fun. It will help us generate random but amazing ideas. Like what was stated on the docudrama titled “The Pirates of Silicon Valley”, we don’t just live life, we change it, we mold it, and we make our mark upon it. Changing the world is making meaning, and it is also a way of making our mark on it. In addition to "making meaning," he suggests people dispense with the fancy corporate off-sites to create a "mission statement," with a facilitator who "knows nothing about your business, but has the magic marker pads." Instead, he says, all you need are "three or four words...a mantra."

INCREASE THE QUALITY OF LIFE.
Find something to interest other people. Something that would increase the quality of their lives. Something that could be more useful than others. By interesting other people of your ideas, they will come to love your own and be loyal. You can't please everyone. It's better to have a small, fiercely loyal customer base than to create a mediocre product that fades quickly into obscurity. The things is that Mr. Gamby opened my eyes to a whole new and wider world. Its just that things has turn its ways beyond normal rotation. So it is really simple, is your work or what you are doing makes the world better?

Right a wrong.

In our past experiences in life we can't avoid to make mistakes. Fix something that you think is wrong. Like corruption, abuses, and such; think of something that could end all those. It would not be easy since big people are behind all of the bad things happening but start with small things and slowly pull up and let people hear your heart. Isn’t it great if you will be one the people who will contribute to the end of crimes in your country? You will be an instant super hero. But yet the essence of helping is the main key for you to achieve the thing that you want.

Prevent the end of something good.

Last point is “prevent the end of something good”—this is somewhat connected to the second point Guy pointed. If we were able to establish good changes, changed the wrong to right, this could now be the challenge for the businessman to maintain it. But in the instances that good things already existed ahead of our business, it is also in them to maintain it for them to be called a good businessman (Technopreneur). As the world changes, people vary in their perception of which of these changes are good and bad. Is there something good, beautiful, or wonderful that is about to come to an end due to changes in the environment? If you just cannot stand the fact that something good is about to end, turn the problem into an opportunity to start a business, an innovation project or a social movement. For example, in Africa, national parks with premium safari lodges help to preserve the beauty of the African wilderness while creating job opportunities for the locals and tourism income for the country and its entrepreneurs.
